Abstract
610,755. Trimming grinding - wheels. DEARSLEY, G., and MOLINS MACHINE CO.; Ltd. April 15, 1946, No. 11588. [Class 60] A trimming device 4, in a rotary tobaccocutting machine, for trimming the grinding surface of a rotating grinding wheel 3 comprises a diamond 5 mounted on a spindle 6 journalled on the rotating head 2 of the machine and arranged to engage and pass across the grinding surface to trim it, the spindle being adapted at each revolution of the head to engage a friction pad 12 or the like fixed to the frame of the machine, whereby the diamond is rotated so that different parts on the surface thereof are presented to the grinding surface during different trimming operations, and the diamond is thus worn down substantially symmetrically. The diamond spindle may be adjusted axially by screwing a sleeve 7 into a bracket 8. According to the Provisional Specification the diamond may be rotated simply by contact with the grinding wheel or continuously by suitable gearing. Specification, 594,613 is referred to.
