637,862. Trueing grinding-wheels. MOORE SPECIAL TOOL CO., Inc. Feb. 13, 1947, No. 4214. Convention date, Feb. 14, 1946. [Class 60] [Also in Group XXIV] A wheel-trueing device in a grinding-machine comprises a movable head 14 which carries the wheel 24, dressing means including a diamond &c. tool 58 with means for.feeding said tool to dress the wheel and also a second dressing means including a crushing roller 107 and means for feeding said roller. The head 14 is adjustable vertically on a tool-post 13 which, itself, slides on guides 12 mounted on further guides at right-angles thereto. The head 14 carries a laterally - adjustable slide 32 on which is mounted a transversely-adjustable slide 36. The slide 36 supports a pivot 45 bearing a pantograph 47-50. The arm 48 supports a further pivot 57a on which is carried the diamond tool 58. The tool is linked, for corresponding movement, with a manually controlled follower 66, by links 78, 79. The follower coacts with a template 29 corresponding with the shape desired for the wheel 24. The pantograph is additionally supported at the pivot 57a by links 82, 83 carried by the head 14. The crushing roller 107 is rotated by a motor 103 mounted on an adjustable slide 92. The wheel 24 is trued by the diamond and is then used to finish form the crushing roller 107 which is subsequently used to dress the wheel. U.S.A. Specification 2,452,509 is referred to.
