Class 60 A copy-grinder for scissor blades &c. comprises a table 2 reciproeable with respect to grinding means 7, an auxiliary table 20 movable on a flat surface of the table 2, two shaped formers 50, means 33 to engage the formers, and means 44 to urge the table 20 to maintain contact between the means 33 and the formers so that the table 20 is moved transversely of the table 2 as the latter is reciprocated, the formers being secured to a frame 3 and the means 33 to the table 20 or vice versa. The table 2 is reciprocated by an electrically driven pump and is provided with reversing stops 5 to co-operate with adjustable control handles 4. The guides for the table 2 form part of the frame 3 which may be adjusted with respect to a frame 1 by a hand wheel 6. A slide mounted in a slideway on the table 2 receives a pin secured to the table 20 which provides a bearing surface for a slide 36 carrying the roller means 44 and is adjustably loaded by a spring 38. The grinding wheels 7 are carried by motors 9 which may be adjusted in guides 12 by handwheels 16. The table 20 has a slot 53 to receive chucks 54 which are preferably of the magnetic type. The grinding wheels are trued by diamonds mounted in holders 58 which are traversed across the wheels under the control of the formers 50. The machine may be constructed to operate on more than two work-pieces.
