[Class 60.] Flat extended surfaces, surfacing.-A machine for polishing thin metal sheets consists of a polishing- roller 1 carried by an axle 6 parallel to the polishing plane in the forked end of an arm 2, the other end of which engages a crank pin 7, the arm being pivoted at approximately the middle of its length about an axle 4 on a carriage 5 slidable longitudinally of the work on base plate 14, so that the roller 1 moves in an approximately circular path, whereby wear is equalized. The roller is driven by an electric motor 13 mounted on the plate 14, which is adjustable transversely of the work on a cross beam 10 ; the beam 10 is adjustable vertically on uprights 8, 9 and the table carrying the work is reciprocated beneath the roller 1.
