Turning. - In a centreless grinding machine for grinding pins, tubes, rollers, &c. which are passed freely in a guide channel across the side face of a grinding wheel, the channel comprising two spaced front bevelled guide plates and a backing roller, means are provided for trueing the acting face of the roller. The holder, rigs. 1, 2 and 4 comprises spaced guide plates 2 and a roller 3 mounted in a bracket 8 pivoted at 9 to a base 5. The roller may be made of grinding-composition and is trued by a diamond or other tool 25 carried by a slide 26 traversed along a guide plate 27 by a screw 28. The guide plate is angularly adjustable on extensions 29 of the bracket 8, and the tool 25 may be carried by an arm 33 pivoted to the slide, the diamond extending through a slot in the slide so that it can contact with the roller above or below the centre line. In a further modification, Fig. 9, the trueing device is mounted on top of the bracket 8. In a further modification, Fig. 14, the bracket 8 is in the form of a cylinder and the roller dressing device 25 is mounted within the casing, the traversing screw for the cutter passing through a nut in the casing.
