Abstract
404,403. Centreless grinding. B.S.A. TOOLS, Ltd., Armoury Road, Small Heath, and OGILVIE, W., c/o B.S.A. Tools, Ltd., Montgomery Street, Sparkbrook, both in Birmingham. Sept. 14, 1932, No. 25535. [Class 60.] In a controless grinding-machine the control wheel head comprises a base 1 having a part 2, on a face of which is mounted the housing 3 for the spindle 6 of the control wheel 7. The housing is angularly adjustable, by means of a screw 9, on a curved rib and groove connection 11 on the part 2, and is locked by bolts 4. The part 2 is formed at one end as a part circular hood 12 covering the control wheel, and on ways 13 on the hood is slidable a bracket 14 carrying a horizontally adjustable slide 15 on which is mounted a vertically and rotatably adjustable bar 16 carrying a diamond &c. 17 for trueing the wheel 7 and the grinding-wheel 8, the hood has thereon a cover plate 18 carrying an adjustable bar 19 on which is a guide plate 20, which co-operates with a similar plate 21 adjustably mounted on the grinding-wheel head 25 ; a cover 22 is provided at the other end of the control wheel head for the driving-mechanism 23. The grinding-wheel head may be slidable on, or fixed to the machine bed 24, the control wheel head then being fixed to, or slidable on the bed ; the work may be fed through the machine or shouldered work also may be ground.
