Disc apparatus; guides and rests; tables; wheels.-A grinding-machine consists of a grinding-wheel 9, having an annular operating surface 8, mounted on the upper end of the spindle 10 of an electric motor 5, which is slidable vertically in a frame 3 to adjust the surface 8 in relation to an annular work support 14 mounted on the frame 3. An inner support 15 also is provided, supported, flush with the support 14, within the wheel 9, by a bridge piece 16, which also is secured to the support 14. The piece 16 has a trued face 17 acting as a guide for the work and forming a chord across the wheel 9 of less length than the diameter; a. second bridge piece also may be provided. The wheel 9 has a flange 13 and is clamped on a plate 11 on the spindle 10 by a ring 12. The motor carries a screw 18 engaging a nut 19 rotatable in a web 20, through bevel and chain gearing 21, 22, 25, by a hand wheel 24, and in order to lock the motor in its adjusted position, the frame 3 has two slots 27. 28 forming tongues 29, which have lugs on their ends to receive a clamping bolt. A casing 33 is fitted and is connected to a dust exhausting apparatus, ports 36 being provided above the piece 16, and grooves 35 being formed in the lower surface of the piece 16. In a modification, the motor 5 may be fixed, the spindle having an adjustable extension.
