601,751. Dressing grinding-wheels. BRUCE, C. G., SMITH, G., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. Oct. 10, 1945, No. 26510. [Class 60] A device for shaping the operative surface of a grinding-wheel to an arc comprises a dresser, e.g. a diamond, mounted on a rotatable holder, said holder being eccentrically mounted in journals mounted in bearings, means for causing rotation of the journals to cause the dresser to move through an arcuate path and means for regulating the eccentricity by angular adjustment of thesaid holder to change the radius of the said path. A diamond 12 is carried on the middle part of a spindle 11 which is cut away so as to be eccentric to its ends which are rotatably mounted in bores 10 eccentric in sleeves 9 rotatable in bearings 4 in two supports 2 mounted on a base plate 1. The eccentricity of the tool is adjusted according to the radius of the surface to be trued by rotating the spindle 11 in the bores 10 and locking in the required position determined by gauge blocks on a datum block 15. The sleeves 9 are rotated so that the too] sweeps through an arcuate path by gear wheels 8 attached thereto and engaging gears on a parallel shaft mounted in the supports 2 and rotated by a hand wheel.
