Abstract

523,995. Centreless grinding. ARMSTRONG, W. Jan. 19, 1939, No. 1845. [Class 60] A centreless grinding-machine has two wheels 1 with axes at an inclination in the same plane and meeting at a point between the wheels, the wheel heads being mounted on angularly adjustable supports and carrying motors 6 driving the spindles through belt and worm gearing. The wheels run in opposite directions at approximately the same speed. The wheels are preferably of very fine grit. The work is supported on a bar 9 adjusted in position off centre from the wheels by balls and slots 10. Roller steadies 11 are provided.
