Abstract

1281950 AC generators HITACHI Ltd 17 Oct 1969 [18 Oct 1968] 51238/69 Heading H2A A.C. generator 1 directly coupled to the forward end of an I.C. engine block 2 comprises attached to such end a non-magnetic, e.g. Al cover 15 which supports in concentric and spaced apart relationship armature and field coils 18, 22, and connected to the engine crank-shaft 12 for rotation in the space between these coils a cup-shaped rotor 7 having an open ended hollow portion provided with a plurality of claw polepieces 8, 81 extending axially in the space, the armature coil 18 being adjacent the polepiece outer periphery and the field coil 22 being disposed in the hollow piston. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, the rotor hub (10) is extended through the cover, which has cooling fins (31), and mounts an external ventilating fan (29), whilst in Fig. 4 it carries a cam-shaft (34) engaged by breaker cam follower (39). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 855,551.
