Abstract

1485582 Central heating systems TOUR AGENTURER AB 3 Jan 1975 [11 Jan 1974] 248/75 Heading F4U [Also in Division F2] A single-tube central heating system comprises a vessel (not shown) for heating a fluid, e.g. water connected by a feed duct 11, Fig. 2, to at least one one-tube loop including radiators 16...19 via a duct 12, the first radiator in each loop forming a master radiator controlled by a valve actuated by a thermostat 24. Each loop of the system has a temperature sensing device 33, Fig. 3, mounted in the casing of a member 25 to sense the temperature of fluid returning from the master radiator through a duct 29 to actuate in dependence on that temperature the position of a valve 35 in the member. The valve 35 controls the flow of fluid from a return duct 14 common to all the loops through a duct and inlet 26 into a valve chamber 41 and also the flow of hot fluid through the duct 12 into the chamber 41. The member 25 also comprises outlets 27, 28 leading the heated or mixed fluid from the valve chamber 41 to other radiators of the loop and to the radiator 16 respectively. In operation, when the temperature of the fluid entering the member 25 through the inlet 29 drops, the valve is actuated to reduce the inflow through the inlet 12 and increase that through the inlet 26 and vice versa. The valve comprises a slidable cylindrical body 35 having a face 36 co-operating with a seat 37 controlling flow through the inlet 26 and its peripheral surface 38 reduces flow through the inlet 12. An elongated support 32 for the device 33 has two axially spaced heads, one for screwing into a sleeve 31 of the device and the other acts to reduce pressure in return water through the inlet 29. An adjusting device (not shown) for all the radiators in a loop may comprise a time switch, located on an extension 44 of a bar 34 extending from the sensing device 33 and the valve body, and a spring 45 may be positioned between aligned spaced portions of the bar 34 for protection purposes. The device 33 is reset by a spring 43 surrounding the bar extension. The other radiators in the loop or loops may be manually or thermostaticallycontrolled independently of the or each master radiator.
