148,307. Tillmann, M. May 19, 1919, [Convention date]. Plates and plating; frames and framing.-The outer skin of a ship is built up of plates 1, Fig. 1, the joints of which are welded butt-joints 5. The joints are provided with additional flanged stiffeners or fish-plates 3 forming framing, welding at the joints 4 and 6 being continuous or intermittent. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the arrangement described is applicable also to decks, hatches, and platforms. Fig. 6 (Cancelled) shows another arrangement, applied as shown in Fig. 1 (Cancelled). This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
