Frames and framing. - In a process of shipbuilding, the bottom, sides, bulkheads, and decks are assembled in sectional panels fitted with the appropriate strengthening and stiffening girders &c. The keelson a, intermediate keelsons c, and tanks b are positioned on the stocks and the panels e constituting the bottom are placed in position by lifting and lowering tackle. The side panels fare next built up and are followed by the ceilings g and the inner bulkheads. In succeeding operations, the deck girders h are secured in position and the deck panels i mounted. The process is continued in the case of ships designed with more than one deck.
