147,819. British Thomson - Houston Co., (Assignees of White, W. C.). Oct. 31, 1917, [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes. -- An incandescent cathode 2, a grid 4, and an anode 3 are so spaced, and a constant positive potential of such a value is applied to the grid, that the current between the cathode and the anode varies proportionately with the anode potential over a definite range, the apparent resistance of the valve being thus constant. The potential may be applied by means of a battery or by connecting the grid with the positive end of the filament. An ordinary valve may be suitable. The arrangement may be used with a continuous-current ammeter 9 for measuring an alternating pressure applied to the anode circuit through a transformer 10.
