Abstract
415,014. Rectifying alternating currents. ERBER, B., and SCHWITZER, A., (trading as GANZ & CO., G.), 45, Van der N³llgasse, Vienna. Nov. 11, 1932, No. 31922. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 12, 1933]. [Class 38 (ii).] A rectifier unit, particularly for producing the anode voltage for a wireless set, has one or more thermionic valves the heaters for the indirectly-heated cathodes of which are connected directly to the A.C. mains without the insertion of a transformer. As shown in Fig. 1, the heater 3 is connected with the A.C. mains 4, 5, the anode 1 is connected with one 4 of the mains, the cathode 2 is connected with an output terminal 7, and the heater with the other output terminal 8, a condenser 6 being connected between those terminals ; a similar arrangement may be used with two valves for full wave rectification. In a modification, the output is connected between the anode and the heater, the cathode being connected with one of the A.C. mains. In the full wave rectifying circuit shown in Fig. 4, the anode of a valve E and the cathode of a valve G are connected with one supply main 19, and the anode of a valve F and the cathode of a valve H with the other main 20. The output terminal 21 is connected with the cathodes of valves E, F and the terminal 22 with the anodes of valves G, H. The heaters are connected with the terminals 21, 22, across which a condenser 23 may be bridged. Four rectifying valves may be mounted on a single pinch.
