Converting pulsating currents into steady continuous currents.-The filament system 5, 6, 7 of one or more thermionic valves is fed from an alternating current source and is combined with a two-electrode valve 4 and a condenser 3, on which the rectified alternating-current impulses are impressed, so as to form a closed circuit, the values being so chosen that the minimum voltage across the condenser is equal to, or greater than, the sum of the saturation voltage of the two-electrode valve and the working-voltage of the filament system.
