Abstract

466,132. Valve circuits. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. Nov. 22, 1935, No. 32410. Convention date, Dec. 17, 1934. [Class 40 (v)] To prevent variations in gain of a thermionic amplifier due to variations of supply voltage, the circuit comprises compensating elements arranged so that the amplifier gain depends on their impedance, which in turn varies with the supply voltage in such manner as to counteract variation in gain. In Fig. 1, a resistance of uranium dioxide is connected across the supply terminals in series with a resistance W. Any increase in supply voltage will increase the gain of valve V but the impedance of H falls to compensate this; by virtue of the connection of anode resistance Ra and condensers C1 C2, H is in parallel with Vy for alternating currents. Alternatively as shown in Fig. 4, the series arrangement of W and H may be applied to a screen-grid valve by connecting their common point to the screen grid ; a non-linear element may be used for H in this case. In a further modification, H is directly connected across V but the operation is as shown in Fig. 1. The resistor H may in the simplest embodiment constitute the anode load resistance Ra, Fig. 3 (not shown).
