Abstract

460,673. Valve amplifying circuits. BRIDGEWATER, T. H. Sept. 26, 1935, No. 26678. [Class 40 (v)] A tetrode valve amplifier for television signals &c. has an impedance connected in its screengrid circuit so designed in relation to the valve and its operating voltages that the output or anode voltage is substantially in phase with the input voltage. The input voltage 6 is applied between the control grid and the cathode, and the output is taken from terminals 11, 4 between anode and cathode. The screen-grid is connected to the high tension positive terminal 3 by a resistance 12, and to the cathode through a large condenser 13 in series with resistances 14, 15. The screen-grid voltage swings in phase opposition to the control-grid voltage, and predominates in its effect on the anode current, causing the anode voltage to vary in phase with the control grid. By reducing the resistance 15 or by shorting it by. a switch 16, the valve operates in the normal manner as a screen-grid amplifier. The amplifier may thus be used for giving " positive " or " negative " pictures in a television system.
