Abstract

1454014 Rotary positive-displacement fluidmachines LEYBOLD HERAEUS VERWALTUNG GmbH 26 Sept 1974 [29 Oct 1973] 41969/74 Heading F 1F A sliding-vane, vacuum pump comprises a rotor 16 integral with a journal 12 supported in a bore 13 in a casing 1, another casing bore 19 being slidably engaged by a vane 18 located in a slot 17 in the rotor. The drive-shaft 4 of an electric motor 3 is coupled by a pin 11 either to journal 12, as shown, or to the rotor 16, and is engaged by seals 6, 7 with a lubricant chamber 10 therebetween supplied via duct 9. Duct 14 supplies lubricant from the casing interior to journal 12. The pump has an inlet port 20 and an outlet 23 controlled by check-valve 24. A multi-stage pump, Fig. 3 (not shown), has rotors and journals constituted by a single member with one slot receiving a plurality of vanes with spacers (17) therebetween. A gas ballasting device (27), Fig. 2 (not shown), an oil level-viewing window (28) and an oil drain plug are provided in the casing.
