Abstract

1378543 Rotary positive-displacement pumps BORG-WARNER CORP 12 June 1972 [8 July 1971(2)] 27250/72 Heading F1F In a sliding-vane-type refrigerant-compressor the vanes 23 are biased outwardly by pressurized oil delivered to slots 22 in the rotor 21 from a reservoir 44 by a gerator-type pump 54 through a bore 55 and passages 85. The pump is driven by the shaft 26 for the rotor and has inlet and outlet passages 79, 81 in a plate 78. A flow-restricting passage 51 causes cavitation in the pump 54 and thus reduces the rate of increase in the output pressure of the pump with increasing speed. A reed-type valve-assembly 38 controls discharge ports 39. The discharge end of a tube 62 and an outlet 69 for the compressed refrigerant have therebetween an oil separator 64 comprising a screen made of gas permeable material such as metal fibres.
