Abstract

978,475. Rotary vacuum pumps. SOC. ALSACIENNE D'ELECTRONIQUE ED DE MECANIQUE APPLIQUEES (S.A.E.M.A.). July 24, 1962 [Aug. 1, 1961], No. 28480/62. Heading F1F. In a two-stage rotary vacuum pump of the oil sealed, outwardly sliding vane type, the two rotors 2, 7 are mounted on parallel shafts and the rotor 7 of the high pressure stage is driven at a slower speed than the rotor 2 of the low pressure stage. The rotor 2 is driven directly by a motor 14, and the rotor 7 is either driven through a belt drive 17, as shown, with the two stages of the pump side by side, or the stages are arranged with the axes of the pump chambers 1, 6 in line (Fig. 4, not shown) and with reduction gearing between the two stages. The exhaust ducts 9 discharge through valves into an oil bath (Fig. 1, not shown), and oil is allowed into the first stage sufficient for lubrication and into the second stage sufficient for sealing. The pump may have more than two stages and may be other than the sliding vane type.
