Abstract

1517974 Rotary I C engines STANDARD OIL CO 12 Sept 1975 37571/75 Heading F1F A rotary I.C. engine comprises a hollow cylindrical rotor 24, the external surface 38 of which rolls on the inner surface 34 of stator 20 and is engaged by vanes 60 in the stator dividing the space between the rotor and stator into working chambers each having valved inlet and outlet ports 70, 72 and a spark-plug 74, and the internal surface 40 of rotor 24 transmitting the rotor motion to the eccentric 54 of power shaft 50 via bearing 56. The valves are actuated by levers operated by a cam which is driven by gearing from the power shaft 50, Fig. 2 (not shown). Instead of being spring- biased, the vanes can be urged against rotor 24 by a pneumatic force depending on the differential pressure between the chambers on either side of each vane.
