Abstract
1283289 Rotary positive displacement machine HYDRO-COMP Inc 14 Dec 1970 [15 Dec 1969] 59343/70 Heading F1F A fluid pump or motor 20 has a generator unit 30 comprising a stator ring 31 and a rotor 32 and reciprocating piston valves 60 to admit and exhaust respectively to and from expanding and contracting chambers 33 formed as the rotor orbits within the stator. The rotor 32 is between wear plates 50, 65 and is rotated with a shaft 40 and short shaft 45. Piston valves 60 are radially arranged in a valve cyclinder plate 61 and provide a fluid passage between input and output fluid bores 24a, 24b, Fig. 4, and the chambers 33 through input and exhaust apertures 61b, 61c in the plate 61 around a neck portion 60b of the pistons and through chamber apertures 61d to apertures 65a in the wear plate 65. Connection is made as appropriate to the input and exhaust apertures 61b, 61c by reciprocation of the piston 61 by an eccentric cam surface 70c of camming means 70 which is caused to orbit with the rotor 32 by an extension 45c of the shaft 45 engaging an actuating slot 70e. Thus three expanding chambers 33 are supplied with input fluid while three contracting chambers are connected to the exhaust bore 24b and one piston will be changing from exhaust pressure and will not pass fluid. It is possible to adjust the timing of the pistons by relative rotation of the cyclinder plate 61 and the wear plate 65 within the limits of permitting communication between apertures 61d and 65. In other embodiments the pistons 60 may be actuated by a stor cam rotated by the output shaft and the pistons 60 may be arranged parallel to the lonitudinal axis to be actuated by rotated radially disposed rollers or an undulated cam. It is stated that the arrangement may also be used in a metering device.
