Abstract

1448275 Reinforced blockwork structures or formwork A DOLDER 13 Sept 1973 [12 Sept 1972] 43230/72 Headings E1B and E1W Parallel spaced skins of building blocks 2, 3 are formed with offset edge grooves 13, 15 in which engage chords 6, 7 of intersecting arrays of parallel lattice girders so that the latticework web spaces the two skins. The girders extend vertically as well as horizontally through a wall to form a grid and may be similarly arranged to form a floor or ceiling. The blocks may be grooved in their edge faces to accommodate the lattice rods 5. Insulating blocks including foamed plastics may fill the cavity or concrete may be cast between the skins. The panels may be formed of glass, plastics or aerated concrete and be provided with blind honeycomb bores in their rear face. Alternatively they may be of plastics or wood. The lattice web may be secured to the chords of the beams by concrete cast into the channel 8 of the chords. The chords may be of steel or of rubber in which latter case the concrete cast in the channel 8 contains reinforcing rods. When used to form a bridge deck the lower chords may be inclined to the upper chords which support decking slabs.
