Abstract

1317248 Precast beams CONDER INTERNATIONAL Ltd 22 May 1970 [11 July 1969] 35115/69 Heading E1W A floor or roof is constructed using a precast reinforced concrete unit 1 having at least one integrally bonded portion 5 extending substantially right through the unit. The portions 5 are more easily cut than the concrete of the unit and may be breeze or light-weight concrete aggregate in the form of a standard block, part of, which is cut out in situ and a service passed through. The unit may be U- shaped or W-shaped in cross section. In the latter case two parallel rows of spaced blocks 5 may be used. The end portions 3 of the unit may be of reduced thickness where they rest on structural parts of the building to form ceiling/floor slabs or the flanges forming the arms of the U or W of the cross section may terminate or be of reduced height adjacent the beam ends. Adjacent parallel slabs forming a floor may be joined by grouting between adjacent long edges, the portions 5 being preferably flush with one of the beam faces.
