Abstract

1,035,331. Erection of buildings; concrete floors. TRUSCON Ltd. Jan. 10, 1963 [Jan. 11, 1962], No. 1107/62. Headings E1A and E1V. A building such as a maisonette or a block of flats is constructed from a series of threedimensional, prefabricated, room-defining cells which are arranged in spaced relationship and interconnected by concrete poured between adjacent walls which serve as shuttering, each cell comprising a rigid rectangular floor, at least two walls and a ceiling. A cell, Fig. 1, may consist of a welded steel framework of channel-section made in two halves 22, 23 which are then bolted together. Floor boards 27 are secured to wooden blocks 26 carried by lower longitudinal members 12, 13 and 21 of the framework. The ceiling consists of lengths of wood 29 which are secured to the framework by clips 28, hardboard panels 33 covered by insulation boards 30 being adhesively secured to the wood 29. The ceiling is strengthened to receive concrete by parabolic shaped hardboard panels 34 and wood struts 35, 36. The wall panels consist of flat steel sheets each of which has a corrugated steel panel welded to it or consist of plasterboards nailed to wooden posts or formed with a plaster plank therebetween. External wall panels of fibreglass lined with plasterboard may be used with concrete therebetween. Units are located one on another by pins or dowels and may be provided with service accessories, furniture and internal decorations as necessary. For architectural desiderata, arrangements of partitions, materials employed and disposition of sealing strips &c. the Specification should be referred to.
