Abstract

814,814. External walls; beams. WATES Ltd., ZINN, W. V., and MITCHELL, J. W. Dec. 14, 1956 [Dec. 14, 1955], No. 35900/55. Class 20(4) Pre-fabricated string courses 3, Fig. 4, over-lying the external edges of reinforced concrete floors 6 and extending between like columns 1, Fig. 1, have slabs 26 spanning between them and support brick or building block walling 14. The courses 3 are initially held down by built in or removable floor bolts 5 during levelling by screws 8 engaging nuts 9 embedded in the courses, which are finally secured by grouting 16. Retention of the slabs 26 on the courses 3 with intervening bituminous felt 30 may be ensured by metal dowels 29 or by rebating the courses. Drainage channels 32 and bores 33 are provided. Modified coruses 17, Fig. 3, are provided at roof level and may have reinforcing bars, Fig. 2 (not shown), having projecting ends linked to projecting ends of roof reinforcement bars, the ends being embedded in concrete 31a cast in situ. Fig. 3 also shows a modified slab 21 terminating upwardly at a beam 24 to leave a window opening 22.
