Pivoted-window opening and closing apparatus.-A transom window is opened by a spring hinge and closed or fixed in any position by a chain 6 attached to a bracket 4 on the window and passing through a housing 8 with flanges 10, 13 screwed to the sash. The chain passes over guide-pulleys 16, 17, as shown in Fig. 2, through an opening 12 and through a catch 7 having a slot 18 in which a link of the chain may be secured. When freed from the slot 18, the chain may be released to open the window or pulled to close it.
