Spray-carburettors; vaporizers, external. - In carburettors of the kind in which the air is heated in passing through tubes heated by the exhaust gases, and the fuel by electric coils, both the air and fuel are heated by electric coils as well as bv the exhaust gases. In one form, the jet chamber 1 for the fuel is supported on a cylinder 3 mounted in the exhaust chamber 2, and the air enters through tubes 5 in the chamber 2 and passes down similar tubes 7, through ports 8, and over one or more electric coils 4, 4<a> to air passages 9 adjacent the pilot-jet 10. A baffle 12 may be inserted between the coils 4, 4<a> to cause the air to pass upwards over the coil 4<a>, then down over the coil 4, and up a pipe 13 of heatconducting material to the passages 9. Heat passes to the chamber 1 from the coils by radiation and bv conduction through the pipe 13. The fuel-supply pipe 18 may pass through the exhaust chamber and may be enclosed in a jacket formed by the cylinder 3 and an outer cylinder, between which a third coil'is placed. The pilot-jet 10 and main jets 31, 32 are in alinement, and the ports 11. 37, 38 are similarly arranged. The throttle valve, may consist of two ported disks movable in opposite directions, or of two ported cylinders 40, 41 rotatable in opposite, directions. An electric heater and atomizer 39 for the mixture may be removably mounted in the valve. The valve casing and mixture outlet 47 may be cast integrally with the automatic extra-air port 47<a>, together with the cylinder for the piston working the extra-air valve 53.
