Abstract

212,139. Bayerische Motoren Werke Akt.-Ges., and Friz, M. April 0, 1923. Addition to 212,115. Vaporizers, external.-The vaporizer for the heavy fuel mixture, described in the parent Specification, is replaced by a block a of wrought iron or other material having alternate rows of perforations b, d for mixture and exhaust respectively. In a two-cylinder engine, the exhaust from one cylinder passes through the passages d and from the other through a pipe having a closable escape vent to a right-angled bend f leading to a jacket g adjacent the induction pipe c. It is then caused to whirl round the inlet manifold by a spiral-shaped guide k. A heatinsulating packing r may be provided. The slow-running mixture is led through a passage in the block a and a pipe m surrounded by the exhaust to a point beyond the main throttle n. A throttle in the exhaust passage allows the temperature to be regulated. The spray-carburettor is directly attached to the block a and arranged with its air passage facing the block so that its air supply is heated.
