Abstract

432,572. Vaporizers. LANGFORD, D., Hove Street Garage, Hove, Sussex. Jan. 30, 1934, No. 3146. [Class 7 (iii)] Combustible mixture is heated in a chamber 5 which is located in a casting containing inlet and exhaust passages leading to and from the engine cylinders. The mixture enters the heater through a passage 10 and issues through a horizontal passage 2 leading to ports 3 connected to the cylinder inlet ports. Exhaust gases enter the casting 1 through ports 4 and a wall 7 in the casting prevents the gases from passing directly to the exhaust pipe 6, and directs them around the chamber 5. The entering mixture passes through apertures 21 arranged at opposite ends of baffles 13, a passage 17 and apertures 27 arranged at opposite ends of baffles 14, the baffles 13, 14 being formed as shallow trays having upstanding edges 13b, 14b. An inspection cover 27 may be secured to one side of the casting and to preheat the fuel before it enters the carburetter, a small container is attached to the cover.
