Abstract

142,223. Morgan, R. E., and Morgan, H. S. Feb. 20, 1919. Disk wheels.-Two radially corrugated disks 1, 2, in which the corrugations have their maximum depth near the periphery, are arranged together so that the projecting parts of one disk lie within the depressions of the other disks, the disks being secured together at contacting points 5 by rivets 9 or bv welding, thus forming a double triangulated structure. The outer parts of the disks are flanged at 10 to support the rim 7, and may be folded over at 11. The flanges 10 may constitute rim portions themselves, or may be shortened and secured to the rim. At the centre of the wheel, the inner edges of the disks are flanged at 14 to support a distance-piece 12 with flanged edges 13, and are provided with driving-tubes 15. Alternatively. the centre flanges of the disks may be corrugated to engage with corresponding projections on the hub, or, as shown in Fig. 3, a distance-piece 21 with corrugated ends 23 is provided, the disks being flanged over at 17 and held in position by side cheeks 18 with annular flanges 19.
