Abstract

255,709. Pickering, F. G. Dec. 4, 1925. Disc wheels. - Tubular spokes 2, welded or riveted at their ends to a tyre-carrying rim 1 and a central hub ring 3, are clamped at the hub between annular plates 4 which are bolted or riveted together, the ring 3 and the spoke ends fitting in grooves 15, 16 in the plates 4, as shown in Fig. 3. Short bosses 5, 8 on the rim 1 or ring 3 respectively may fit within the spokes which are shrunk, welded or threaded on the bosses. The spokes may be flanged over and riveted to the rim 1 or ring 3. The inner spoke ends may. be corrugated and welded to the ring 3, or the ring 3 may have shallow recesses 12, Fig. 5, to receive the spoke ends.
