Abstract

159,118. Goold, L. W., (Adams, A. J.). July 3, 1920. Spokes, securing.-Compression-spoke wheels comprise two sets of oppositely inclined spokes 6, put under ccmpression by forcing the inner ends of the sets towards one another while the outer ends abut against the rim and securing them by upsetting the ends 12 of the hub barrel 4. The spokes are preferably tubular and take over bosses 3 on the rim 1. The inner ends of the spokes are held between pairs of annular plates 7, 8 formed so as to provide sockets and held together by lugs 10 on one turned over the other. Stops in the form of rings of bosses 5 may be provided on the hub barrel to limit inward movement of the spoke flanges.
