Abstract

141,601. Norwood, H. G. Sept. 12, 1919. Locking nuts.- A washer 8 is provided with a rigid tongue or tongues 10 arranged at an obtuse angle and adapted to engage the sides of the nut. When the nut 7 is screwed on to the bolt 6, it engages the tongue on the washer and the nut and washer rotate together until the washer is held by friction against the work. Further turning tilts the washer until it bites into the bolt, and the engagement of the nut and tongues prevents slackening of the nut. An inwardly projecting rib may be provided on the washer to dig into the bolt.
