Abstract

154,467. Walker, D. G. M. Dec. 24, 1919. Locking nuts. - A nut is locked by serrations provided on the faces of two members, both of which can rotate on a fixed bolt b on which they are assembled, the serrations being of V-section, with the sides of the V disposed at an acute angle and terminating in a sharp point. In the form shown in Fig. 2, serrations c are provided on the co-acting faces of two nuts a, one of which constitutes the locking nut. In a modification, Fig. 5, serrations c, d<1> are provided on a unit a and on both faces of an annulus washer d. The serrated faces may be flat or slightly concave or convex, and the serrations may be radial and may taper in depth, or they may be in a series of parallel lines or in two series of parallel lines at right-angles.
