4164. Brown, H. W. March 17. Locking nuts.-Nuts are slightly rounded on the face which is to be against the work so that the lower parts are pressed inwards to grip the thread on the bolt when the nut is screwed up. The lower part is slit at c, the slits terminating in a groove d. The slits may be cut by a small disk g, as shown in Fig. 6, so that the sides of the nut are left intact.
