Abstract

569,550. Lock nuts. ALLISON, C. R., ALLISON, C. H., and ALLISON, P. R. Nov. 5, 1943, No. 18414. [Class 89 (i)] Lock - nuts are provided with recesses 8 on the work engaging surfaces to receive threaded fibre inserts 10 that project beyond the face of the nut, the projecting surface being either convex as shown at 11, or flat. On screwing up, the fibre is compressed into close contact with the surface 9 and the work locking the nut by friction and making the joint fluid tight. The recess in the nut may be either circular or polygonal. The head of the bolt may be provided with a sealing ring 16.
