Abstract

566,609. Bolts, nuts, &c. LLOYD, R., and HOYT METAL CO. OF GREAT BRITAIN, Ltd. July 6, 1943, No. 10954. [Class 89 (i)] In anchoring bolts or nuts in holes in walls by means of an expander 7, packing ring 8 and caulking material 9, the expander has a non- rotational sliding engagement with the hole. To this end a groove in the hole engages with a projection on the expander. In the preferred form, the hole is made smaller than the diameter across the corners of the bolt head and expander and the sliding engagement is obtained by driving the expander into the hole. The ring 8 is split to expand when driven up the tapered surface 11. An extension 12 of less taper wedges initially in the material 9. In a modification, the expander is formed integral with a nut to be secured in the hole.
