Abstract

838,620. Securing bolts &c. against loss. WALDES KOH-I-NOOR Inc. Oct. 2, 1957 [Oct. 12, 1956], No. 30819/57. Class 89(1) A bolt assembly, for a nut and bolt fastener for securing two panels together, comprises a bolt 10, Fig. 1, held captive in a sleeve 11 and capable of axial movement relatively thereto, means being provided to hold the sleeve captive in a hole in one of the panels (12) so as to be capable of axial movement relatively thereto. The sleeve has a frusto-conical head 14 and a shank 16 formed with axial grooves 18 extending to a shoulder 17, against which abuts a ring 19 engaging the grooves, and a shoulder 21 in the panel hole to hold the sleeve captive to the panel. The bolt has a longitudinal groove 22 ending in a shoulder 23, and is held captive to the sleeve by a ring 25 sealed in a groove 26 in the sleeve and having a tongue engaging the groove 22. The bolt and sleeve can be withdrawn, as shown, to lie flush with the underside of the panel. When tightened into the co-operating nut 30, Fig. 6, secured to the other panel 32, the sleeve is received in the thickness of said other panel, and the bolt and sleeve heads lie flush with the upper surface of panel 12.
