8810. Jones, B. R. June 15. Locking nuts.-In the bolt is cut a comparatively deep groove flanked by shallower grooves 14, 15 of greater depth than the thread. The washer 16 has a projection 17 to fit in the deep groove, and lugs 18 which are turned up to engage the nut. The grooves in the bolt are cut before the thread, and the shallow grooves receive the burrs formed by the screwing-dies, so that the deep groove is unobstructed.
