Abstract

Locking nuts.- A nut-locking device consists of a resilient strip of metal 1 folded upon itself with an inclined back 4, the two arms being provided with elliptical and eccentric holes which engage the screw threads of the bolt at opposite points 8, 9. The inclination of the back 4 is in the direction of the line joining the centres of the eccentric holes. The device is screwed on to the bolt up to the nut 10, and is tightened with a wrench. It may be more firmly secured by striking with a hammer at 8.
