Locking nuts.-A nut is formed with a tapered cavity d and is screwed down upon two or more segmental tapered threaded pieces f, which are previously p l a c e d upon the bolt adjacent to the work. The pieces f are forced against the work and the bolt and the shoulders e of the nut. To ensure that the pieces f turn with the nut, the engaging faces e of the nut and the ends of the segments f may be knurled or roughened. The pieces f may be magnetized so as to adhere to the bolt when the nut is removed.
