Abstract

30,515. Jones, D. P. Dec. 30. Locking nuts.- A washer for locking - nuts consists of two parts a, b made of resilient material such as spring steel, and having conical engaging surfaces. The inner part b is divided and is compressed to grip the bolt by pressure of the outer part when engaged by a nut l, Fig. 7. The cylindrical inner surface of the part b may be threaded or roughened, or provided with teeth or ribs. Guiding ribs and grooves h may be formed in the conical surfaces. The part a may have projections i<1> which are turned down to engage the sides of the nut l when in position. Openings i are provided in the projections i<1> for the insertion of a tool. A casing f, Fig. 5, may enclose the parts a, b, and may have teeth or lugs f<1> adapted to be bent into engagement with the sides of the nut.
