Abstract

163,229. Walker, E. F., and Manning, J. July 26, 1920. Locking nuts.-A plate or washer 21 provided with radial teeth 22 with bevelled edge 23 is secured to the nut by means of projections 20 engaging holes in the nut, or by means of upstanding parts engaging the sides of the nut. A stationary washer or plate 24, secured to the work bv projections penetrating or engaging holes therein or so shaped as to abut against part of the work and so prevent rotation, has resilient dogs adapted to engage the teeth 22, the bevelled edges of which allow rotation of the nut in one direction. Extensions 25 on the dogs permit disengagement with the teeth when it is required to release the nut. The bolt is held against rotation by a washer 13 with turned-up parts to engage the side of the bolt-head and projections or prongs to engage the work.
