Abstract

143,524. Webb, P. T. Jan. 5, 1920, [Convention date]. Locking nuts. - A locking-washer placed beneath a nut, of the kind which is prevented from turning by a tongue engaging a groove, or a flat, on the bolt, and formed with an upturned flange 3, part of which is bent in against the side of the nut when screwed down, is provided with an horizontal saw cut in the flange to enable the locking-part to be bent in. As shown in Fig. 3, the flange has also a vertical cut forming two spring fingers 13, 14 engaging sides of the nut. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also a castellated washer, Fig. 7 (Cancelled), having the edge 12 of the central hole turned upwards or downwards so as to grip the thread of the bolt when flattened by pressure of the nut, and with projections or points formed on the washer to engage the work. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
