Abstract

1397460 Lampholders J E L GLANTZ 21 Dec 1972 [23 Feb 1972] 59098/72 Heading H2E A holder for a lamp having bottom and side contacts comprises a mounting 12, terminals 14 and 16, a side-contact spring 42, and spring-loaded contacts 26 and 40 isolated from terminals 14 and 16 upon withdrawal of the lamp. The contact rod 26 is urged away from the terminal 14 by a spring 28 based on an annular abutment 30 in an insulating plug 20. The rod 26 carries at its lower end an insulating disc 32 tiltably mounted and biased toward the flange 34 by a spring washer 36 trapped under a locking washer 38 attached to the rod 26. Insertion of the lamp drives down the rod 26 carrying the disc 32 and an attached peripheral contact ring 40 which, impelled by the spring washer 36, abuts and connects together the upper face of the terminal 16 and an upward face 41 of the contact spring 42. Further travel of the rod 26 causes it to abut and depress the terminal 14 against the opposition of a second spring washer 46.
