Regulating delivery by by-passes.-In a fuel pump for an internal-combustion engine of the kind described in Specification 133,644 and comprising a piston 1 having an axial duct 2 communicating with the reservoir 5 by ducts 3, 4 controlled by a governor-actuated rotatable sleeve 6 provided with an inclined face 7 at one end, the sleeve is provided with a second inclined face 11 so that the beginning, the end, and the duration of the injection of fuel may be varied by the adjustment of the sleeve 6. The injection begins when the port 4 passes under the edge 11, lasts while both ports are sealed by the sleeve 6, and ends when the port 3 emerges from the edge 7. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the edges 7, 11 are in the form of a slot cut in the sleeve 6. In the form shown in Fig. 5, the ducts 3, 4 are coaxial, and the edges 7, 11 are on opposite sides of the sleeve.
