Abstract

138,727. Wilson, W. A. March 5, 1919. Pivoted-sliding windows; sashes balanced one against another.-In pivoted sliding windows in which the sashes are pivoted to sliding stiles attached to the sash cords, vertical hinged side strips 9 are provided on the frame to turn over or away from the bottom sash. The sashes may be balanced by weights or one against the other, as shown in Fig. 5. The sashes may be con. nected by two cords passing over a doublegrooved pulley 23, 24 as shown in Fig. 7, one cord 26 passing over the pulley, and the other cord 29 passing below the pulley, so that the sashes are counterbalanced and must move to. gether. The lengths of the cords 26, 29 are adjusted by screwed stems 34 soldered thereto and nuts 36. A hinged horizontal flap 45 may be provided on the frame for the lower sash. The runners may be secured in any position by pegs passing through holes in the hinged flaps and runners.
