Abstract
109,835. Giblin, J. J., and Stobbs, N. W. Sept. 25, 1916. Sliding-window opening and closing apparatus. - Sliding sashes are opened and closed by cords placed in the centre of the window. For the upper sash, a cord A is secured at one end to a detachable eye plate B on the sash, passing thence over a pulley in a fixed bracket E and through an eye J on the lower sash; the other end of the cord is returned through the eve J to the plate B. For the lower sash, a separate cord H is passed over a second pulley in the bracket E, and the ends are secured to an eye-plate F which is similar to the eye-plate B. The loops of the cords may be secured to a cleat K. For heavy sashes, the cord A may be secured at one end to the window frame, then passed under a pulley L which replaces the plate B, and finally over the pulley in the bracket E and down to the eye J as described above.
